We pray this at the closing of our masses:
St. Michael the Archangel- defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Power of God - cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who roam the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father send your Holy Spirit to guide our nation. May your Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts and minds of your faithful and all who serve as leaders. Keep us faithful to your law, protect us in our trials, lead us to walk in your word and your love. Through the Virgin Mary, conceived without sin, may we be spared of all destruction and harm from without and within.
Mary, Queen of Nations - Deliver us.
O, Sacred Heart of Jesus – Have Mercy on Us.
O, Immaculate Heart of Mary – Pray for Us.
O, Sacred Heart of Jesus – Have Mercy on Us.
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone.
Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life; rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in his arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same understanding Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and everyday, He will either shield you from suffering or will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
