HISTORY: The St. John’s Men’s Club was started during the ministry of Father Faschan. We had no other men’s organization in the parish at that time; however, we did have a strong Catholic women’s organization: The Catholic Daughters of America. Many of these ladies had husbands who were not Catholic. The Knights of Columbus required a member to be Catholic and able to receive communion. Consequently, Father Faschan was asked if we could have an organization that could include all men of the parish. Father gave his approval, and the club was started with the following members as officers: Clarence Bueche, president; Wallace King, treasurer; Gerry Thibodeaux, secretary.
