FUNERAL LITURGY
We will ask that you choose one reading from the Old Testament, a responsorial Psalm, and one reading from the New Testament, excluding the Gospels from these Selections or from a list provided to you at the meeting.
The Pastor will choose the Gospel reading. For the Prayers of the Faithful, we ask that the family list deceased family members it would like mentioned in this part of the liturgy.
MUSIC
Music is an important element of the service. You will be asked to select songs from a list of liturgically approved hymns for a funeral Mass. Secular music is not suitable. Our cantor and musician can each provide music services for funerals at a nominal charge.
SERVICE DETAIL
All details of the funeral process and Mass, including recitation of the Rosary (optional), visitation, burial, memorials, and acknowledgements as those apply, will be completed at the meeting.
You may bring framed pictures of the deceased for display on a table in the vestibule.
The Sisters and a church staff member will attend the funeral and continue to assist you in any way possible.
FUNERAL PROGRAM
Complimentary keepsake programs of the funeral including service details will be prepared for you free of charge by a volunteer. You will be expected to provide an obituary and a picture of the deceased for the program. (Our volunteer can download these from the Funeral Home website or newspaper when published there.)
We will need to know an estimate of how many programs you would like to have. We will also prepare 20-25 copies of the program just for the family. You will receive these at the time of the funeral.
FAMILY MEAL/REFRESHMENTS
The Bereavement Committee prepares a meal or a sandwich and cookie tray for the family for up to 75 persons at no charge for funerals of registered parishioners. This is also discussed and planned at the meeting. We do not allow consumption of food or drink (other than water) in the Church.
EULOGY
Eulogies are read before the Funeral Mass begins during the visitation time and should be limited to 10 minutes.
