Meeting dates and times will be announced in the church bulletin and by text to those who express an interest in participating. Most of the meetings will be "Dutch Treat" luncheons. Meetings are held monthly from September to May.
Our Faith, our friends and family sustain us.
The purpose of this ministry is to support widows. This support is provided through fellowship,
information such as grieving process, healthy living, spiritual resources, the business responsibilities when a spouse dies, etc. and other information as requested or needed.
It would provide an opportunity to discuss issues that all face when losing a spouse.
Meetings are monthly on a Monday or Tuesday at 11:30 am. We take a break for the summer months of June, July and August. We normally meet at a local restaurant for a Dutch Treat lunch. Fellowship with other women going through the same process is a balm to the soul. Knowing that you are not alone in your new life is a great comfort.
This group will provide a “safe” place to discuss issues of loss and grief. Members would support each other with prayer and fellowship.
The group is not a service organization. The patron saint of the group is St. Elizabeth Ann Seton who is the Patroness of Grief. We ask her guidance in all our endeavors to support one another.
For more information in becoming involved contact the church office at 225-654-5778 and they will provide you with contact with the chairperson of the group or fill out Contact Us Form below.
The group is open to widows at SJB and OLA faith community. Members are allowed to invite guests to attend. We communicate by texting. RSVP is required for our luncheons.
